WELCOME BACK TO HP THEATRE! (2018-2019)

Hey everyone!

Whether you’re new or you’re returning, welcome!

Here is a recap of today’s meeting, with some updates, and our prospective schedule for the year!

9/5/18 MEETING

Leadership Decisions:
After some debate we decided to have 3 co-presidents and a head (or heads) of the respective departments of theatre that make up the rest of the HP Theatre Government.

Co-Presidents: Clare Brownlee (Communication/HTFF), Soren Eversoll (Twitter/Publicity), Jasper Law (Attendance/Other)
Co-Head Stage Managers: Izzy McCafferty, Drew Strautman
Head of Lighting: Eliot Aust
Head of Sound: Ben Smith
Head of Costumes: Zoe Sontgerath
Head of Set: Eva Semlak
Head of Props: Sidra Michael
Head of Publicity/Marketing: Leah Morley

Name Change:
A largely unanimous decision was made to change the official name of our group from "Highland Park Thespian Society" to "Highland Park Theatre Arts Department." Woohoo new name!

Lettering in Theatre:
You can now letter in theatre! Devote (only) 100 hours of your life to theatre, and you could letter. Hours can include rehearsals, performances, set building, cleaning out the prop shop, and more. If you want to letter, spend some time determining how much time you’ve spent with us, then contact Nancy.

Classes:
Nancy will offer two classes this year: a DIRECTING class and an AUDITIONING class. The directing class will be open to anyone, but is mandatory for those who want to direct one acts. Dates are in the calendar. The auditioning class will teach you how to audition in the real world (seniors, theatre scholarships!) and dates and times TBA: there will be another post about this soon.

HTFF:
For those of you who don’t know, we also have an associated parent group, Highland Theatre Friends and Family! They handle our money, some publicity, help us with shows, and are generally super supportive and amazing! You’re family members are welcome to join; it’s a great way to be informed and make sure they are too!

We (Leah M. and Ben S. run the blog currently) will let you know of any changes to things like schedules, contacts, and bring you updates during our shows. We also have a Remind, Instagram, and Twitter to keep you posted (refer to our Contacts page for that info!) There is a Google Calendar of all the events of the school year as they are CURRENTLY scheduled. Changes can happen, and we will do our best to let you know when they do! We are also doing some work on the blog right now, as some of the info is still being collected, so if you can’t find something, let us know and we will try to help.

HP Theatre is a safe, fun space! We welcome all students to join no matter their experience, and strive to respect everyone and enjoy doing what we love! Feel free to invite your friends, or anyone you know is interested. Auditions for the Fall Play start soon! Welcome!
